April 2026 KIC! wrap-up

Our April 2026 Keep It Clean! event was an overall success. This was our pre-Earth Day cleanup and our volunteers managed to remove 103lbs of trash, cigarette butts, food waste, and other debris from Ocean Inlet Park in Boynton Beach. It was another month with a nearly full 5-gal bucket of cigarette butts, GROSS!
While the main park itself still has an absolute ton of fishing-related trash to be removed -- Jeepers Keepers is working on it!! -- we also began scouring the beach and what can I tell you....it was not as bad as expected! Given the time of year, the beach was covered in dried sargasssum which made cleaning up a lot easier and since it was dried up, a lot less stinky! It was a surprise to see that the beach cleanup station provided by the Beach Bucket Foundation was entirely full; it's heart-warming to see people making use of these cleanup stations although I strongly suspect that these will be overflowing soon from increased traffic.
Next month we'll be meeting up at Ocean Inlet Park in Boynton Beach, right next to the Sheriff's Marine Unit, on 10 May 2026 at 8AM EDT. While it is Mother's Day, what better way to start the day than with cleaning up our Mother Earth? Come and join us!
