Jeepers Keepers X US Forest Service team up in Ocala National Forest for National Public Lands Day

Jeepers Keepers was so happy to participate in National Public Lands Day , teaming up with the US Forest Service and local trail guides to tackle the huge trash problem in the Ocala National Forest. Our team consisted of about 15 vehicles and we were able to tackle about 6 different spots previously identified by our trail guide, and let me tell you: these spots were BAD!

How bad? It only took us about 3 hours to remove over 3.04 TONS of trash! That's more than 6,700lbs and I swear, 1,000lbs of that must have been toilets! We found over 20 toilets, including brand new toilets. A local plumbing company dumped all of these toilets, because they were absent-minded enough to leave some of their brochures behind. We found and removed at least 3 small sheds, complete with shingled roofs. It's absolutely unreal what people dump in the Forest, because none of the spots we cleaned up were viewable from the road or easily accessible.

Given the sheer scope of the problem, in 2026, Jeepers Keepers will be heading back up to the Ocala National Forest to organize multiple cleanups throughout the year. Now that we have a better idea of what equipment and manpower is needed, we will be teaming up with local and national organizations and companies to make an even BIGGER IMPACT in 2026!
