July 2026 KIC! wrap-up

July has arrived and brought with it the hottest cleanup of the year. 20 minutes into our July 2026 Keep It Clean! event, I had already sweat through my clothes and there was still another 2 hours to go! Despite the unreal humidity level -- I swear it must have been 200% humidity! -- our team of 11 volunteers combed through the incredible amounts of sargassum to remove 45lbs of trash and marine debris. It could not have come at a better time because we also witnessed a few dozen loggerhead sea turtle hatchlings make their way to the ocean!

These little guys are one of the reasons we come out month after month, braving the scorn of the Sun, to clean up the beach!
