March 2026 KIC! wrap-up
Share
On 8 Mar, we completed our second Keep It Clean! even of 2026! It was a beautiful sunny morning at Ocean Inlet Park in Boynton Beach and our 13 volunteers managed to remove another 40lbs of trash from the park. Just like last month, our biggest haul was cigarette butts! We collected a full 5 gallon bucket full of these stinky things and while it's not a lot of weight, it's a huge amount of disgusting trash! On average it takes more than 5 years for a cigarette butt to begin biodegrading, if it degrades at all, and various wildlife will attempt to eat these! Gross! I'm hopeful that by the time 2026 is over, we can remove hundreds of buckets full of cigarette butts.
If you're wanting to join in the early morning fun, join us next month on 19 Apr 2026 at 8AM for our next Keep It Clean! event at Ocean Inlet Park in Boynton Beach. We're holding our event later in April due to upcoming holidays AND this will serve as our official Earth Day 2026 cleanup! Head over to Volunteer Cleanup and signup today!
